A Swollen Neck or Throat Area
Having a swollen neck could mean infected, swollen glands around the jawline area. Tonsils and adenoids are also something to look at. But if you notice a swollen area in the front of your neck, it could be a goiter. This overgrowth is a swelling of the butterfly-shaped thyroid and is indicative of Grave’s disease. This is an overactive thyroid condition needing diagnostic imaging. A biopsy is also possible.
Thyroid conditions can wreak havoc on a body. Don’t forget that the thyroid produces hormones. All hormones work together. Possible goiter treatments include medication, surgery and radioactive iodine treatments.
