Coughing Up Blood
While coughing up a little blood or finding minor streaking in sputum isn’t usually serious, coughing up blood in larger volumes can be a solemn sign. Infection, damaged blood vessels in the lungs, esophageal problems and cancer are a few medical conditions that become suspect. Please seek immediate medical attention.
There are other ways you can pay attention to lung hardiness. If lung injury is in question, look at your lips and nails. If you see a bluish tint to them, this is a sign of lung dis-ease. The bluish tint is an implication of a lack of fresh oxygen in the blood. Another sign of injury is if laughing, coughing or breathing deeply is painful.
Whenever there is unexplained bleeding, contact your doctor for help.
