Blood in Stools
If you experience blood in your stools, or bowel movements, one reason could be from rectal hemorrhages that can bleed when too much pressure is exerted from passing stools. Hemorrhages can also become irritated from any type or duration of bowel excretion, passing blood right along with stools. It may appear as if blood is actually in the stool; but that is generally not the case and can be treated with over-the-counter suppositories or creams.
Rectal or anal polyps and fissures can also present blood in or on stools. Blood that is actually in stools can show red blood or turn stools darker, or even black. The color of your stool matters. Watch for any deviations from a normal, medium brown color stool. Blood in stool indicates bleeding is within your digestive tract. There may be pain and itchiness, as well.
