Rough Patches and Spots on Skin
Keratosis or seborrheic keratosis is a benign skin condition that shows up on the face, chest, back and shoulders. These growths have a minor waxy texture and come in a variety of brown, black and tan colors. The lesions can also become crusty.
Actinic keratosis or solar keratosis is most often a malignant skin condition affecting adults over the age of 40. There is a slight similarity in appearance to the seborrheic keratosis.
Actinic keratosis growths are found on the face, including lips and neck, ears, scalp, forearms and backs of hands. One primary cause of actinic keratosis is due to an over-abundance of sun exposure throughout the years.
See your doctor if any rashes appear. Keratosis growths can be largely prevented. They can also become cancerous. When in the sun, allow skin to absorb the sun’s Vitamin D for no longer than 15-20 minutes. Then apply a safe, topical sunscreen like olive oil, coconut oil or a chemical-free sunscreen that moisturizes, nourishes and protects skin from too much sun.
