Not-So-Restful Sleep
If you’re not sleeping all that good, don’t be alarmed. Many people struggle with poor sleep quality at different points in their life. But when poor quality sleep is consistent take another look at hormones, including stress hormones. High levels of cortisol can boss your happy dreams good-bye causing insomnia.
Your body will naturally react to mental and physical stress by releasing adrenaline and cortisol to help increase alertness. Hence, you stay awake longer and struggle to relax. Elevated stress hormones need tender, loving care in order to behave properly. Meditation, prayer, relaxation techniques, deep breathing and organic foods are all fantastic pseudo sleep-inducing practitioners. After all, a body knows instinctively it was not designed to maintain a constant deficit of valued sleep.
Remaining in a more peaceful state does take work in this hectic world. Constant reminders of balance must be implemented or the body’s natural relaxed state will suffer. The mind/body connection is imperative for reducing stress hormones and stress as it encourages sound sleep patterns. These efforts will strengthen the body’s overall immune responses, as well.
