A Larger Waist than Hips
If your waist is larger than your hips, this is referred as an apple-shape. If your hips are larger than your waist, this is referred as a pear-shape. Overweight people in the apple-shape category play with a higher risk of poor health, such as heart distress, than those in the pear-shaped group.
The risk for type-2 diabetes and insulin resistance also increases in our overweight, apple-shaped friends. Abdominal fat stores collect around organs wreaking havoc on blood sugar, heart function and other systemic factors.
