Snoring
If you carry excess weight or are obese, the body becomes compromised. Added body weight places more pressure on the delicate airway. This results in the flow of air becoming blocked during sleep. Oxygen is reduced or cut off entirely. This potentially threatening condition is referred to as sleep apnea.
Smoking, sedatives and alcohol also affect sleep apnea because they interact with the body’s blood flow, muscle contractions and the physiology of the body. If you notice a sore throat, morning headaches, restless sleep, forgetfulness or lack of energy, especially on a regular basis, sleep apnea is a predominant consideration to address with your doctor.
